Panasonic + EnCore Aerospace partnered to create an airplane seat based around Panasonic’s in-flight entertainment (IFE) products.
Panasonic wanted to showcase their products in a conceptual but manufacturable seat. The goal was to have a design from sketch to working prototypes in 6 months.
The seat shows a removable monitor shroud in order to accommodate multiple & future monitor sizes and we were able to also propose an innovative way of lowering the armrest in order to have a wider back.
At the end we had to make several sets of working prototypes utilizing CNC machining, Prototyping & RTV mold parts in order to meet the deadline.
Thermador Product Visualizations
Photo realistic renderings of Thermador’s Kitchen Appliance family of products. Responsible for rendering CAD database and compositing with selected kitchen environments to be used for catalogs & promotional material.
EnCore Aerospace contacted us to brainstorm and create some ideas as to what other functionality the G2 Galley of airplanes could offer. The G2 Galley is the first galley customers see as they board the airplane.
We created a series of concept sketches and renderings showing how the galley could have different modules depending on the Airlines desires.
The monitor display options was a huge hit with customers. Currently, a working prototype is on display at the Boeing Design Center as a display of Encore’s craftsmanship & innovation. Encore Aerospace has expressed multiple times that this show piece is responsible for bringing new business & winning contracts.
American Lawn Mower Company, established in 1985, is one of the oldest lawn care products company. IN 2006 they introduced their line of Electric Lawn Mowers under the brand Earthwise.
Soon after they engaged us to design they new models as battery technology kept progressing. Throughout several years we designed hoods and a complete OEM lawn mower branded under the Homelite brand and sold a Home Depot stores.
The main challenge was the perceived value and power compared to traditional gas powered mowers and to diferientiate them from the other “plastic-toy-looking” electric mowers out there at the time.
We created two different aesthetic directions. One for Earthwise and one for Homelite. Both visual languages had to accomodate multiple lawn mower sizes and both corded & battery powered models. This was specially challenging due to the size and proportions of the battery. However, we were able to design it and seamlessly incorporate the removable battery.
Vizio asked us to design their first Blu-Ray player. We had to design and have a working prototype within 3 months in order to show it at CES.
Afterwards we continued to work with them in the design of additional models for Best Buy, Costco, and other major retailers. We were also engaged in designing their remote control and initial HDMI cables.
Taylor-Dunn, the leader in commercial and industrial vehicles, came to us to design their new cab fascia. They were looking to design and build the whole cab design in-house locally in Anaheim, CA. Previously they were buying and bringing the whole cab from Italy causing, longer lead times and a level uncertainty during shipment.
Taylor-Dunn designed the cab using their expert knowledge in sheet metal manufacturing but they knew the fascia of the cab needed some aesthetic development. We designed the fascia to attach to the existing structure following the curved profile and flat front. We also designed it with vacuum forming in mind for durability, cost and fast production compared to fiber glass.
The fascia and bumper are manufactured in Huntington Beach keeping most of the cab designed and manufactured in Orange County, California.
ecco Personal Pocket GPS Locator is a keychain style handheld navigator that takes you back to a specific starting point--your car, campsite, hotel, trail, dock, house, etc.
Ultra-sensitive GPS searches up to 32 satellites within 60 seconds and triangulates the three best to lock in the starting point. The device then saves your location and when you are ready to go back to your car or location it displays distance and direction with a simple arrow guiding the user in real time
It store and instantly recalls up to three locations, with a distance of up to 9,999 miles.

From simple monuments to complete aircraft interiors. I’ve probably done hundreds of renderings all ranging in scope, data completeness and lead time.
I’ve had to create renderings that range from basic to following specific CMF for every single part inside a plane. Experience in optimizing CAD data for rendering and creating materials from scratch.
The Innovative KRISS Super V System
The KRISS Super V Recoil Mitigation System uses an innovative nonlinear operating system that revectors energy down and away from the shooter’s shoulder to dramatically reduce felt recoil and muzzle climb. This system allows the shooter to recover faster, for quicker and more accurate sequential shots.
KRISS USA came to with the purpose of improving the butt stock ergonomics and to design different models of the KRISS Vector line of weapons. The butt stock had to be adjustable and had to fold forward so we had to design the geometry in order to clear access to the handle and trigger and yet be comfortable during use and when folded.
Designed external form and ergonomics, focusing on the grip area and cap to meet user experience requirements for comfort, ease of use, and sanitation.
We were engaged to design the new aesthetic direction for ept’s pregnancy tester. During the development we were asked to modify the design to incorporate the new Digital technology recently available. We still had to keep in mind the electronics volume and lateral flow cartridge design best practices in order to ensure consistent performance.
As one of my first Industrial Design projects it was a crash course on empathy. We were asked to design symbols to represent the positive or negative results. During the process I quickly understood that Positive or Negative, or + - , or graphic symbols showing pregnancy were a very delicate subject and could be interpreted emotionally different depending on the persons desired outcome. Ultimately it was decided to use words to overcome any possible ambiguity of A) Did the device work and B) The result.

Fluidmaster came to us to incorporate their patented Click-Seal technology to a consumer grade garden hose.
Incorporating the technology aimed to provide feedback to know when the hose is and isn't tight enough. Its click seal technology clicks, just like the gas cap on your car, so you know it's sealed tight, no need to over-torque or wonder if it’s tight enough.

The BVX-200 is a two operator, PRE-HEPA-GAS volume extraction system designed to be used adjacent to the workbenches.
At that time Metcal only offered a single operator product. This product had an off the shelf latch and a vent hood that was often used as a handle. Being a heavy unit, this was often a problem.
We took this into consideration when designing the BVX-200. We incorporated the handles towards the bottom of the unit, covering and serving as sound baffle for the vents. We also designed and integrated a custom latch that blended seamlessly into the aesthetic development of the unit.
Overall it was received very well and is still available through Metcal and OK International, their parent company.
Osmetech, an international molecular diagnostics company, approached us to design their eSensor XT-8 molecular diagnostics platforms’ User Interface. The FDA-cleared device produces results in less than 30 minutes detecting multiple genetic markers from a prepared patient sample.
The Osmetech team consisted of about 5 people with different backgrounds/disciplines. The challenge was presenting several options addressing their multiple concerns and ultimately combining their feedback into a clean user interface that provides an easy-to-use graphical, touch screen interface & requires limited operator training.
The esenor XT-8 received a Medical Design Excellence Award for innovative device design in 2009.
Liquid Shade is a portable mister designed to be taken outside to provide cool relief from hot temperatures.
This was a start up company that came to us with a prototype with multiple manufacturing/assembly issues. We proceeded to change the internal component configuration and visual language.
Zodiac Seats approached us to design a seat from scratch keeping in mind that a) It would go into many different planes b) sizes will have to vary, c) airline customization and d) part commonality.
The seat had to be flexible and have multiple configurations so we had to understand part commonality and part customization in order to design a successful seat. We had to understand how each part was made and what changing a specific part would do to manufacturing, serviceability and certification.
Throughout the years we were involved in one way or another with the design of the Alcon Cataract Refractive Suite.

I’ve created dozens if not hundreds of aircraft galley visualizations for EnCore Aerospace. Galleys vary from G1, G2 in front of the plane to custom G4’s in the back of the plane.
These renderings have been used for their website and promotional material but mainly for bid presentations in order to provide that extra visual for airline companies.
I’ve worked with their sales and engineering teams working with 3D CAD models, AutoCAD drawings and napkin sketches. A key aspect of working with these models is data management. These often have thousands of parts, hardware and polygon intensive geometry. Preparing these files for rendering is an art in itself.
Industrial design of lancing device. Worked closely with engineers to set basic parameters. Payed close attention to drawing and release spring mechanisms as well as the depth selector markings to provide maximum comfort.
FLIP IT case is the FIRST 4-in-1 premium selfie case for iPhone 6 / 6s, which features a removable wireless remote shutter, case with kickstand, and built-in selfie stick, that is pocket friendly.
Neumagine came to use with a concept for a case with a built in selfie handle. We worked with the Neumagine team in developing the optimal length and construction of the telescoping handle for it to withstand the ever increasing weight of our phones.
We designed the case cavity to be modular in order to fit the handle or a power bank which was later introduced.
EnCore Aerospace asked me to visualize their future Design, Manufacture and Testing facilities for their new seat company, Lift.
Working from Architect drawings, existing building photos and product manuals for the Seat Testing Sled I had to create a 3D CAD model and several renderings highlighting the different areas of the proposed facilities. This was instrumental in getting Boeing on board during their supplier evaluation.
